If you have a question about your salary scale placement:
Bring a prospective member to a membership meeting. Our monthly meetings will move to the last Tuesday of the month (with consideration for holidays), at 4:30PM, TFT Office, 606 S. Plumer.
Our primary concern now is membership. We need each member to identify and support two fellow teachers to join TFT this semester. Please help. The following info is a good review of why teachers should join AFT/TFT.
Tucson Federation of Teachers has represented Tucson teachers for more than 20 years. Thanks to T.F.T. lobbying, teachers in T.U.S.D. have the following:
| a sick leave bank where teachers can donate sick days to employees who |
have a shortage of them and a catastrophic illness.
| Better health care coverage. T.F.T. has advocated that an employee's |
healthcare premiums should be paid by the district.
| No RIF policy | |
| Incentives for early retirement | |
| A return to sabbaticals |
What Does TFT Offer Teachers?
T.F.T. Dues are only $500.00 per year. Your dues includes membership in theTucson Federation of Teachers and:
| $1 million Liability Insurance | |
| $5,000 Accidental Death Insurance policy | |

* T.F.T. believes teachers should have a choice.
You must drop TEA before August 1st or you are locked into a full years dues.We are pleased that many new members are being attracted and that we are retaining retired master teacher members, offering them a connection to national support in their retirement and utilizing their wisdom.
