The Tucson Federation of Teachers welcomes student teachers to the profession Part of the teaching is participating in a professional organization. We offer membership to any person doing their student teaching in the Tucson area. Annual dues are $10. If you become a regular teacher member in the TFT, your dues will be will be refunded.

Membership entitles a person to:

• Equal voice and voting rights as all other members of the TFT.
• Subscriptions to the American Teacher and American Educator.
• One million dollars of professional liability insurance.
• Access to the TFT legal defense fund and representation by TFT/AFT staff and officers in school related grievances
• Arizona Federation of Teacher Unions professional staff providing research, legislative lobbying, legislative updates and public relations
• The resources of the American Federation of Teachers including the Educational Issues Department
• AFT Plus, which offers: insurance, financial, legal and health benefits. AFT Plus also offers discounts in travel, motoring, flowers, magazines, and much more. Some of these benefits maybe limited to full time members.
